Both his father and his grandfather died when he was 4 years old, so Glenn and his younger sister, Rutha, were raised by their mother and grandmother. From a very young age, Glenn was fascinated with learning about how things worked. He would often walk around town with a screwdriver, offering to fix squeaky doors or broken doorbells.
