Feeling Stressed? Smash Some Stuff In A Rage Room

The idea of catharsis is as old as Aristotle, who thought that safely unleashing negative emotions was healthy for the mind. Today, “rage rooms“ in Europe, Canada, and America are giving people a chance to do just that. These spaces allow visitors to wield bats, crowbars, sledgehammers, and other weapons against inanimate objects as a unique form of stress relief. Some rage rooms mimic office spaces or kitchens, whereas others are simply furnished with your choice of smashable items (printers are a popular choice!). Whether or not these rooms are effective at treating stress is up for debate. Psychologists agree, however, that they should not be used as a substitute for therapy, but rather as a potentially fun way to let off some steam.
