But instead of getting his second wind from the blasts and a renewed sense of energy, Kong grew weak and nearly lost. It was only thanks to a nearby sunken ship, which he was able to use as a weapon, that Kong managed to break free and ultimately win. Unlocking his electrical abilities would have been a huge moment for the series, but clearly, Kong doesn’t have these powers. It’s now much harder to imagine them kicking in during Godzilla vs. Kong 2. Skull Island implies Kong won’t be getting his upgrade from King Kong vs. Godzilla, but that doesn’t take a power-up off the table completely. A boost can come in a different form, courtesy of the Hollow Earth energy source. The Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire teaser trailer unveiled an evil member of Kong’s species with glowing blue eyes. How unnatural this is, combined with the color matching Godzilla’s power, suggests he found a way to harness the Hollow Earth energy source that flows through Godzilla’s veins.
