2012 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive introduced

High-res photos: Smart has unveiled the upcoming 2012 ForTwo Electric Drive along with its new ebike. The ForTwo Electric Drive in its third generation comes with a 55 kW (75 PS / 74 bhp) electric motor which enables the urban minicar to hit for the first time a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and do the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in ’under 13 seconds’. The 17.6 kWh battery pack supplied by Deutsche Accumotive on the ForTwo Electric Drive is good for a range of up to 140 km (87 miles) in city traffic. The Smart EV will make its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show next month and goes on sale in Europe next spring. Also coming to Frankfurt is the Smart ebike, which will go on sale in the spring of 2012 too.
