NOTE: This tango was presented at the new revue theatre in Warsaw “Wielka Rewia“ in 1934, in a production of “101 Odds & Ends“. It became a great success for lyrical performer Olga Kamieńska, who sang it with her fascinating low voice in the genre of old Russian romance. In the present recording, the song is however arranged in a more banal way, as yet another tango to dance to.
The revue theatre “Wielka Rewia“ was a new stage for musical shows in Warsaw, set up in 1934 in a huge former horse riding hall on Karowa Street near hotels Bristol and Europejski, in prestigious downtown area. The building had also previously housed the operetta theatre Alhambra and the music-hall Rex, rather unsuccessfully. The stage was managed by
