German Short Rows in the round: Frogginette’s trick

Instructions and video markers are included below. Here’s my trick to work German Short Rows in the round with beautiful results, avoiding that ugly hole/stretched out stitch that you get when you resume working in the round after working German Short Rows. Note: Please first watch my German Short Rows tutorial to familiarize yourself with the basic German Short rows method. The “double stitches“ (ds) on RS and on WS are worked as usual and “resolved“ as usual EXCEPT for the last ds. I am only including detailed instructions below about my way of “resolving“ the LAST ds. Note: This video shows 2 sets of short rows worked in stockinette in the round. Video markers: ds on the WS: 0:27 and 2:13 ds on the RS: 1:10 and 3:32 resolve ds on RS: 1:40 and 4:29 resolve ds on WS: 3:02 resolve LAST ds in a modified way when resuming working in the round: 4:50 INSTRUCTIONS: To resolve the LAST ds when resuming working in the round: Knit to 1 st BEFORE last ds, then do a modified ssk (slip, slip, knit) as follows: Slip st as if to knit with yarn held in back, then carefully slip first “leg“ of ds as if to purl with yarn held in back (leaving second “leg“ of ds on left needle). Now insert the left needle tip through the front of the two slipped stitches, and then tightly knit those two stitches together from this position. Knit second “leg“ of ds through the back loop, then continue knitting as per pattern, knitting the first few stitches tightly. (Note: there’s a couple of points in the video where it looks like I’m wrapping the yarn twice around the needle but I’m not!)
