Jean Rondeau plays Frescobaldi: Toccata Settima

The Toccata Settima of early Baroque composer Girolamo Frescobaldi creates a melancholic landscape through chromaticism, one of two distinct voices showcased in Jean Rondeau’s album Melancholy Grace. Discover: The French harpsichordist envisions this recording as two faces of melancholy: one expressed through chromaticism, the other through the musical expression of tears. He emphasizes this dialogue through the use of different instruments and distinct, unequal temperament according to each piece.
