Tribute To Mrs. Mop (1961)

Blackfriars, London. L/S of the exterior of Christ Church; a rather modern looking church. M/S of char lady cleaning a floor with a cloth; she gets up and looks up at a stained glass window in the church. The window shows two office charwomen. Commentator says “The theme of the windows designed by artist Frederick Cole is ’Work and Worship’“. Other stained glass windows in the church show a woman with two children (looks like she is selling them bread rolls, but more likely meant to depict a housewife); a worker at Bankside Power Station; a bargeman on the river; men working at a brewery (?); some bakers. Some are in modern dress; some look old fashioned. L/Ss of a row of the modern stained glass windows and then the exterior of the church as three men walk towards the door. Note: on file are news articles from the Daily Mirror and the Evening Standard about this church with unusual windows, plus a leaflet on the Order of Service for the dedication of the stained glass at the church.
