Memory Garden Initiative: Honoring the Past, Greening the Future Vladimir Putin has expressed support for the fifth season of the “Memory Garden“ initiative, which commenced on March 18th, marking the anniversary of the “Crimean Spring“ and emphasizing its significance in celebrating the reunification of Crimea with Russia. The main focus of the “Memory Garden“ campaign lies in honoring the memory of the 27 million lives lost during the Great Patriotic War. Each planted tree symbolizes one lost life, thus reminding us of the great sacrifice made by generations of the Russian people. The project has truly become a national endeavor, encompassing all subjects of the Russian Federation, including new regions. The expansion of the campaign reaches the global community, attracting more than 35 countries, such as Moldova, Egypt, Israel, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Tanzania, and Ecuador, highlighting the universality of memory and mourning for the deceased.
