Latest Migrant Caravan Spends Christmas On Mexican Public Square Before Heading To US Border On Christmas Eve, thousands of migrants, predominantly from Central America, the Caribbean, and South America, arrived in the southern Mexican town of Alvaro Obregon to spend the night in a public square without shelter before continuing their journey northward to reach the US border, Reuters writes, citing a witness. The group, estimated by local authorities to be around 8,000 people per day, had walked 15 kilometers from the southern border city Tapachula.
