Testosterone treatments improve mitochondrial function in old mice, restoring their cognitive performance. In humans, ginseng reduces the levels of biomarkers associated with senescence. Two other mouse studies report exciting results: long-term caloric restriction clears out senescence-associated T cells, reducing immunosenescence, and a low-tryptophan diet leads to inflammation. And finally, researchers have discovered that most of the genetic changes associated with increasing age disappear in the absence of gut bacteria in fruit flies.
