ICON and Lennar start selling homes in first ever 3D printed community
The future of home construction is happening in Georgetown, Texas.
“A lot of people are looking for something different, looking for a disruption,” ICON Senior Project Manager Conner Jenkins said.
3D printing company ICON is not only disrupting home building they may be revolutionizing it. “We’re excited to prove out the technology and prove out the construction methods with folks that want to be trailblazers,” Jenkins said.
The 100-home community is in Georgetown’s Wolf Ranch and ICON is using its giant Vulcan robot 3D printer to build it. “It’s about 12 and half feet tall, 30 feet wide,” ICON Chief of Staff Michael Gauthier said. “You take a G-code, which is like a digitized blueprint, and we print the house with our mix called Lavacrete.”
