Playalong tunes: The Kentish Cricketers

Country dance and session tunes played at a stead speed for playing along with, in D or G, and on a D/G melodeon. Videos in this Playalong series may not always be played on a melodeon, but where I use another instrument - eg, fiddle or banjo - it will still be in D or G, or in both keys. This reel is found in a 20th century collection of tunes known as The Kentish Hops, in which all the tunes have Kent place names in the title. Before that it was published in Rutherford’s Compleat Collection vol 2, which is said to be dated 1759.
