S. Prokofiev - Sonata Op. 1 no. 1 in F minor

S. #Prokofiev, #Sonata Op. 1 no. 1 f minor Performed by Denis Pykhtin. First sonata in f-moll, op. 1 (1907-1909) is dedicated to V. M. Moralev, a passionate #music lover who paid much attention to the musical development of the young composer. It is not in the full sense of the word a sonata; this is a typical sonata allegro, the first part of a sonata cycle that was “cassified“, according to the composer. This is confirmed not only by the history of the creation of the work, but also by the music itself. There are no elements of the sonata cycle in a compressed form in the sonata. This is not an extended, one-part work of sonata form that goes beyond the framework of the sonata allegro (a sonata-poem or sonata-fantasy typical of the post-List period). The first sonata was formed as a result of reworking and finishing the three-movement second of the six youthful sonatas of his “old notebooks“, from which the composer repeatedly drew material for his subsequent work. Prokofiev discarded the second and third parts, and in a revised form he called the first, obviously without thinking too much about questions of form, “sonata“. --------------------------------------------- If you need help finding sheet music or want to help the channel🙏, you can become a sponsor of my YouTube channel “Listen to Musical Notes“ at the link: 👉 or make donations of any amount to the development of the project in Paypal: 👉 You can also click on the “$Thanks$“ button under any of my videos.
