Pedal Boats At Warminster AKA Country House (1953)

Longleat estate, near Warminster, Wiltshire. The Marquis launches his latest venture, pedal-boating. Two newspaper cuttings are included in the documentation. Excerpt - At the turn of the century the Bath family had a £3,000,000 fortune and owned about 30,000 acres. Death duties and rising costs have whittled that down to 9,000 acres and a capital so small that Lord Bath is not able to live in the house which needs forty servants. Lord Bath comments ’What I’m trying to do is hang on to the house and estate for my son.’....Bygone splendour will be recaptured for a while this year when Lord Bath puts on court dress and ermine collared robes to ride in his own carriage to the Coronation.
