At the age of eleven she formed the group the “Stockley Sisters” with her older sister Avril. They had a number 5 hit on the South African Top 20 in 1976 with a cover of Shocking Blue’s “Venus“ (Miriam was only 14 years of age). She subsequently moved to London, England, to further pursue her musical career, there contributing vocals to several albums and TV commercials.
