The armoured thrust by SS Colonel Jochen Peiper was one of the boldest German moves of the Ardennes Offensive, but a lack of fuel and support ended with Peiper’s battlegroup surrounded at the Belgian village of La Gleize. Here I tell the story of his last stand using King Tiger tanks, one of which remains in the village to this day on public display.
