One of my favorite songs in any genre. Sabiá was a folk group that performed mostly in Spanish, whose lyrical themes generally were supportive of popular resistance to imperialism in Latin America. Composed mostly of women, many of its members--including singers--had no Latin American family heritage.
This particular song is about the women of the Sandinista movement in Nicaragua, which held state power during the 1980s.
