Drone captures huge cracks across Icelandic town after volcanic activity

Footage has been captured of giant cracks in the earth, which run through the now-deserted Icelandic town of Grindavik. Heavy seismic activity in the area beginning around two weeks ago has led to magma shifting underground, leading to fears of an eruption and causing some 4,000 residents to flee. According to media reports, the volcanic threat level has been lowered from ‘emergency’ to ‘critical,’ but the evacuation zone is still considered extremely unsafe. Small groups of Grindavik residents have been allowed back for short periods, but authorities have warned they may need to flee again on ‘very short notice.’
