Chechen (Ingush) mystical Sufi ceremony

Rough footage from my next movie A Chechen Confession (time-code left on for copyright reasons)... a film about reporting and about whether it is possible at all to reflect “reality“ in a movie, which is by definition a subjective construction of edited images and sounds. The film will have as a pretext my experience in Chechnya and it will decrypt the most common myths about the Chechens, including the widely accepted one about their supposed presence among anti-Western Islamist fighters in Afghanistan and Iraq. It is also a presentation of the traditional Chechen brands of Sufi Islam and of the local ceremonies. Here: the zikr of the Batal Haji brotherhood in Ingushetia... (Dan Alexe)
