Within the Negro community there is a whole spectrum of attitudes toward the form of government found in this country, the possibility of Negro and white living together in peace here, and whether or not full equality for the Negro in our present system is even possible. There is even wilder difference of opinion about how to attain equal rights, freedom, education, political power for the Negro here. This program probes the more extreme ideologies and militant movements within the Negro community. Southern Christian Leadership Conference is used as the bench mark of the more militant groups and from there the spectrum gets more radical. Seen is a head-on collision in Pasadena, California, between the Greater Los Angeles Citizen Council which invited Sheriff Jim Clark of Selma, Alabama, to speak at a meeting that was packed by members of the Congress of Racial Equality (CORE).
