Quik is a clone of Sonic.
Technically the game is very well made.
It features fast and smooth scrolling, well drawn colorful graphics, very good music and responsive controls.
The CD32 version which is uploaded here, is visually the most beautiful version.
The colorful parallax scrolling levels on the background makes the CD32 version look absolutely gorgeous!
Quik is not an easy game and this is something that you can realize even from the first level.
Although the controls are precise and responsive, the collision detection is a bit unfair.
In addition the spin attack can often send you to your death.
Quik bounces too violently and most times uncontrollably when his spin attack finds the target.
There are some mid-stages (time travels) in which you must climb upwards (just like in the Rainbow Islands) and find a clock at the end of the level.
Mid-stages are essential for the progress of the game but the doors that lead to them are hidden and it’s difficult sometimes to spot them.
I hate searching for those mid-stages just like i hate the labyrinth stages before every big boss!
What were the developers thinking?
I know that the game is bit small but why did they choose this way to make it longer?
They could have added a couple of levels more instead of adding these frustrating and annoying stages.
Overall the game is very good but underrated as it came too late (1994) and under the shadow of the Sonic franchise.
