Kurt Stone - The Song of the Shield Maiden (Ragnar and Lagertha Visualizer)

Available to listen to/buy on Bandcamp: This song was conceived in the early part of 2022, when I was preparing to play a gig at the Karoo Saloon, near Barrydale. The hosts thought it would be a good idea to turn the evening into a Viking-themed one since my music was suggestive of that kind of theme. They were really kind to us, and so friendly, that I was inspired to go all the way and write an actual Viking song. And so The Song of the Shield Maiden was born. I wasn’t really planning to play it again after that gig, but I enjoyed playing and singing it so much that I found myself singing it at other gigs too. Eventually, I decided I would make it an official part of my repertoire and release it online. It’s important to note that, while I have used footage of Lagertha and Ragnar (from the epic TV series Vikings) to portray the story of The Song of the Shield Maiden in the visualizer, both the
