Bonnie Prince Charlie

Prince Charles Edward Stuart, “the Young Pretender“, “Bonnie Prince Charlie“ etc was the grandson of the deposed King James II. In 1745 he led the last major Jacobite uprising against the House of Hanover. Landing in Scotland he rallied the highland clans and won several stunning victories. Against all odds he advanced almost to London but turned and retreated to Scotland. His army was wiped out at the battle of Culloden and the prince spent the rest of his life in sorrowful exile.
