Houthi rebels issue warning to US and UK after Yemen airstrikes

Hundreds of Houthi supporters on Wednesday (February 7) organized a military parade in solidarity with Gaza and in protest of the American and British airstrikes on Houthi sites. Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthis said on Tuesday they had fired missiles at two vessels in the Red Sea, causing damage to the ships. The Houthis have been targeting commercial vessels with drones and missiles in the Red Sea since mid-November, in what they describe as acts of solidarity with Palestinians against Israel in the Gaza war. The Red Sea attacks have disrupted global shipping and forced firms to re-route to longer and more expensive journeys around southern Africa and stoked fears that the Israel-Hamas war could spread to destabilize the wider Middle East. The United States and Britain began striking Houthi targets in Yemen last month in retaliation for the attacks on Red Sea shipping.
