M/S as soldiers and civilians pick their way over a bridge, the boards are all ripped up, M/S as they walk over the bridge, M/S of a big pile of guns, men add their weapons to it. Intertitle - ’But the Chinese “Tommy Atkins“ will never give up .... his umbrella!“ M/S of soldiers walking along with large flat umbrellas and normal shaped ones. L/S as the camera pans across people sat round in makeshift tents, M/S of the tents. Intertitle - ’Strict guard is kept on the native and foreign frontier.
