DYNAmore Express: Isogeometric Analysis in LS-DYNA with the new CAD-inspired *IGA keywords
Speaker: Lukas Leidinger (DYNAmore GmbH)
Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) is a finite element technology that uses splines (e.g. NURBS = Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines) known from Computer Aided Design (CAD) for describing the geometry and the solution field. Employing such higher-order and higher-continuity basis functions may not only enable a better integration of CAD and analysis, but also offers other potential benefits such as a more accurate geometry description, higher predictive accuracy, a larger element size or an increased time step size in explicit dynamics.
This webinar provides a brief introduction to Isogeometric Analysis (IGA) with Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS), a comparison to conventional finite element analysis and a discussion on potential benefits. It furthermore presents the current IGA capabilities in LS-DYNA for shells and solids, with a special focus on the new CAD-inspired *IGA keywords and trimmed multi-patch shell models. This is complemented with a demonstration of IGA benc
