Spotlight on American Public Media Performance Today featuring the Grimbert-Barre Trio

The NPR-affiliate show Performance Today featured Amédée Barré’s grandsons, the Grimbert-Barre Trio, playing a set of his Creole songs at a concert presented by the 2017 Colour of Music Festival at Memminger Auditorium, Charleston, SC. Composer Amédée Barré was born on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe in 1904. And, even though his official occupation was as a justice court clerk, many saw him as a true musician at heart. He was a mandolin virtuoso, a violin teacher, and performer who composed Creole songs. Performance Today is a Peabody Award-winning classical music radio program, first aired in 1987 and hosted since 2000 by Fred Child. It is the most listened-to daily classical music radio program in the United States, with 1.2 million listeners on 237 stations.
