Square-dancing (known as “Guangchangwu” in Mandarin) is huge in China – and it just got bigger.
On Monday, a total of 50,085 Chinese in 14 cities, including Shanghai, Xi’an, Zhengzhou, Chongqing and Shenzhen, danced at the same time, setting a Guinness World Record for multiple-site large-scale dancing.
Actually 50,699 people took part in the event, and only 50,085 people qualified for the final count – but that number still smashed the previous record of 18,431, which was set in towns across Hebei Provin
