White Threads FlossTube #15 – the BEST way to finish an eyelet
In this episode of White Threads FlossTube, Yvette demonstrates how to work a counted thread eyelet with a large hole, and the BEST way to finish an eyelet. It’s revolutionary, because it means an eyelet can be in the middle of an expanse of fabric, with no other nearby stitching under which to anchor the thread. The finishing method works for counted eyelets, such as are used in Hardanger embroidery and Ukrainian embroidery, and non-counted eyelets such as are used in Portuguese whitework and Ayrshire embroidery.
She shows you the embroidered item she’s wearing for the day, which is another pendant.
There are step-by-step instructions for counted thread eyelets in Yvette’s book “Early-Style Hardanger” and for surface embroidery (non-counted thread) eyelets in her book “Portuguese Whitework”.
