Execution of Arthur Seyss Inquart - Nazi Chancellor of Austria & Reichskommissar of the Netherlands. Arthur Seyss-Inquart was born on the 22nd of July 1892 and studied law at the University of Vienna. In 1921 Seyss-Inquart set up his own practice in Vienna and became a successful lawyer. In 1937, Arthur Seyss-Inquart was appointed Austrian state councillor and was responsible for mediating the relations between the Schuschnigg’s government and the members of National Socialist opposition who were acting only on Hitler’s orders.
In February 1938 he was appointed Minister of the Interior. After Chancellor Kurt Schuschnigg resigned his office on the 11th of March and Seyss-Inquart was appointed his successor.
On the 13th of March, Austrian Nazi Chancellor Seyss-Inquart signed the law called the “Reunification of Austria with Germany”. This law, sometimes called the Anschluss law, formally incorporated Austria into Nazi Germany and gave the Anschluss the air of legality.
