OnexPlayer 2 Pro EVA AMD 7840U VS GPD Win 4 Pro AMD 7840U ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro EVA Limited Edition: New gaming handheld launches globally with AMD Ryzen 7 7840U and 32 GB of RAM The AMD Ryzen 7 7840U version of the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro is now available globally. Sold as the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro EVA Limited Edition, the gaming handheld has an display, a 65.5 Wh battery, detachable controllers and 32 GB of RAM, among other ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro EVA Limited Edition, the gaming handheld’s second refresh since its release little over six months ago. While One-netbook has not mentioned the EVA Limited Edition since on its global social media channels, Minixpc is now stocking the gaming handheld in 1 TB and 2 TB variants. For reference, the retailer is only offering the EVA Limited Edition with 32 GB of RAM; eventually, One-netbook should sell 64 GB of RAM SKUs too. In short, One-netbook has adapted the ONEXPLAYER 2 to house the Ryzen 7 7840U, an RDNA 3 and Zen 4-based APU from AMD’s Phoenix series. Also available as the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in the ASUS ROG Ally, the Ryzen 7 7840U relies on 4 nm TSMC nodes and has eight CPU cores with 3.3 GHz base and 5.1 GHz boost clock speeds. Arguably, the Radeon 780M is the star of the show, with 12 Compute Units (CUs) and a peak 3 GHz clock speed depending on the model. The Ryzen 7 7840U supports AVX-512 instructions too, which proves useful when emulating PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Moreover, the EVA Limited Edition has an display that operates at 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and 60 Hz, as well as LPDDR5X RAM, an M.2 2280 SSD and a 65.5 Wh battery. Other ONEXPLAYER 2 features like detachable controllers remain, as does active stylus support. Currently, Minixpc charges US$1, for the ONEXPLAYER 2 Pro EVA Limited Edition with 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. Alternatively, the gaming handheld is available with a 2 TB SSD for a US$100 Win 4 2023 refresh announced with AMD Ryzen 7040U APUs and OcuLink port GPD has announced a refresh of the Win 4, its PSP Vita lookalike. To recap, the company started selling the original Win 4 in December with the Ryzen 7 6800U, an APU with eight Zen 3 CPU cores and a Radeon 680M iGPU. GPD took until late March or early April to deliver Win 4 units to Indiegogo backers though, which were then discovered to suffer from display stuttering issues. As the likes of @_rogame predicted, GPD has upgraded the Win 4 to Ryzen 7040U APUs. According to the company’s website and accompanying Indiegogo campaign, it will offer the Win 4 (2023) with the Ryzen 5 7640U and Ryzen 7 7840U, which feature Radeon 760M and Radeon 780M iGPUs, respectively. Additionally, the Win 4 (2023) has an OcuLink port that replaces a USB Type-A port, up to 64 GB of LPDDR5x 7500 RAM and 4 TB of PCIe 4.0 storage. In other words, the Win 4 has received the same overhaul as the Win Max 2, a revised version of which GPD launched last month. GPD has not revealed Win 4 (2023) pricing yet. However, it has listed an August 2023 launch date on its Indiegogo campaign and website. Presumably, GPD will offer the Win 4 (2023) with its G1 eGPU too, which could prove a viable and cheaper alternative to the ASUS ROG Ally and an XG Mobile.
