In Greece they have a tradition of starting the Great Lent with a light heart and in good spirits. Thus, their families get together and go outside to fly a kite. Let us rejoice together and meet spiritual spring! «Great Lent for us is not a sorrow», — You hear from both Greek and Russian, «And it is joy we from it borrow», — Say Orthodox without discussion. Great Lent’s compared to a dawn, A flight of love that never fades Of soul that’s for freedom born And in the sky surprising glades! It is the sweetest time of freedom, Which helps us all to cherish peace, And winds of grace with quite rhythm During the Lent will never cease.
