The inspiration came from this after finally deciding to read The Language of Thorns on a whim and I just fell in LOVE with Ulla and her story Zoe Kravitz as her fancast. (whoever came up with this is a genius and I need to kiss you gfhgk) If you haven’t read Ulla’s story (When Water Sang Fire) it’s basically a Little Mermaid retelling (Ulla as Ursula) and she meets a young Darkling and finds out they’re brother and sister. This is my own AU that takes place around Ruin & Rising where they reuinite after The Darkling “returns“ and basically join forces and ascend to power. Anything with young long-haired Ben is meant to be flashbacks when they first met. The endingg is when he shows her the mirror and realizes they’re related.
