На языке Будды доброжелательность звучит как Метта(или майтри) Она относится к эмоции, которая может поддерживать доброжелательную мысль по отношению к другому, и которая готова простить любые недостатки. Мое любимое выражение доброжелательности заключено в следующих словах: “двери моего сердца раскрыты для вас всегда, и не важно кто вы и что вы сделали“ Метта это неэгоистичная любовь, берущая начало в воодушевлении без ожидания чего-либо взамен, без каких-либо условий. Будда сравнивал Метта с любовью матери к своему ребенку. Матери может не всегда нравиться свой ребенок, и она может не всегда соглашаться с тем что он делает, но она всегда будет заботиться о нем и желать ему только счастья. Такой чистосердечностью, беспристрастностью и освобождающей добротой обладает Метта.
