Terry Jacks is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and producer who gained international recognition for his hit song “Seasons in the Sun“ in the 1970s. Terry had a successful career as a musician before transitioning into production work. Terry began his musical journey as a guitarist and formed the Vancouver-based pop-rock band The Chessmen in the 60s. They released a few singles but didn’t achieve significant commercial success. After the disbandment of The Chessmen, he joined the folk-pop group The Poppy Family, which he formed with his then-wife, Susan Pesklevits. The Poppy Family enjoyed considerable success in Canada and internationally during the late 60s and early 70s. In 1974, Terry Jacks released his solo single, “Seasons in the Sun,“ which became a massive hit worldwide.
