March 10th: A tribute to the indomitable Tibetan spirit

tibetactioninstitute Ten years ago in March 2008, continuing the legacy of the 1959 Tibetan National Uprising, Tibetans from all three provinces of Tibet unanimously expressed their longing for freedom and justice by taking to the streets. United in their mission to reject Beijing’s authoritarian rule and seek international support for the Tibetan struggle in the lead up to China’s Olympic Games, their actions changed the course of history. The 2008 Uprising was a major turning point for the Tibet movement. Since then, we have witnessed the growth of creative mass participation movements in all parts of Tibet, mostly led by young people who were born after China’s invasion. Tibet Action Institute is releasing this video to pay tribute to the indomitable Tibetan spirit and to celebrate the unity and strength of the global Tibetan freedom movement. On this 59th anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan National Uprising, we recommit ourselves to the critical work of building, strengthening and reinvigorating our movement
