97 Year OLD Fly Pattern STILL Caches Fish!

This is a fly known as the renegade. It’s now been almost 100 years since its invention, and it still holds true as a great fly pattern. Much like the Gnat, this fly makes a great midge imitation. Generally, it was tied with slightly larger hackle that allows it to sit a bit lower in the water column. It’s an all-around great general dry fly pattern, and can be used in larger sizes to loosely imitate just about any insects, which is likely why it works so well. I would recommend adding a few to your fly box!
