“How Dare She Want To Stop Islamic Extremists!” | Marine Le Pen’s Party On Course For Majority Votes

France is heading back to the polls for a second round of voting for the National Assembly. After his party’s defeat by the far right in the recent European Parliament vote, President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the parliament and called for snap elections. In the first round, the far-right National Rally (RN) party emerged victorious with over 29% of the vote. Protests have swept the country, urging voters to turn out on Sunday against the National Rally, formerly known as the National Front. Macron’s Renaissance party won only about 20% of the vote in the first round. A coalition of left-wing parties, called the New Popular Front, scored higher with 28%. The coalition aims to unite voters against the nationalist and anti-immigrant RN party, led by Marine Le Pen. Alex Phillps and political strategist Peter Barnes discuss the impact of the French elections and matters closer to home with Keir Starmer’s new government. #news #france #paris #politics #marinelepen #ke
