Koltrast // Electronic bird jam // Teenage Engineering OP-1 // Monome Norns

I call this jam ”Koltrast” after one of my favourite birds. Koltrast means blackbird in Swedish. It’s the random goodness of the Norns script Barcode by InfiniteDigits that reminds me of the singing of a blackbird. Always a bit random, keeping you guessing what it will do next but at the same time familiar and musical. I recorded the Teenage Engineering OP-1 into the Monome Norns that takes the audio, chops it up and plays it back in random octaves and directions. I then improvised a melody on top of that that gave me almost a Band of Brothers kinda vibe. What a great show to rewatch that! Added some Soundtoys Crystallizer in post for a lovely shimmer.
