Yuja Wang plays Kapustin, Variations opus 41 with score

This is probably a recording made with a cell phone. The sound is poor and the image is so unstable at the beginning that I had to blur it. Later, I tried to blur only the forest of heads that hinders the view... But I am no less grateful to the person who captured this precious moment. The slow part is played with a delicacy and expressiveness far superior to those of Kapustin’s own version. In the fast parts, the rhythmic pulse of this “fake jazz“ is magnificent, and Yuja’s technical sovereignty gives the impression that she is playing an improvisation, more real than the real one.
