Tension is running high between Serbia and Kosovo after clashes in Kosovo over its newly-installed mayors. The new mayors are ethnically Albanian, but have been installed in border towns where a large part of the population are ethnic Serbs. Serbian troops on the border with Kosovo are now on high alert, following clashes inside Kosovo between police and ethnic Serbs. In the Serb majority border town of Zvecan, ten people were injured in clashes outside municipal buildings. Violence erupted after a crowd tried to prevent a newly-elected mayor from entering his office.
