Aidê Negra Africana is a capoeira song written by Marquinho Coreba. It is a story of an African girl slave, Aidê, whose master wanted to marry her. Aidê didn’t want though and escaped to the quilombo of Camugerê, a society of escaped slaves. The master then said that if Aidê doesn’t marry him, she can’t marry anyone else, and went to the quilombo of Camugerê to find her. There, another African escaped slave stood in his way, fought, and eventually killed the master... The song is from mestre Mao Branca’s cd ’Capoeira Gerais International’.
