The Most Tragic Part of AIR (2005)

This video is the pilot for a new Patreon series I’m starting, where a patron suggests a work, and I make a short video on what I thought the most interesting thing in it is. Air (2005) is a weird, tragic show filled with all sorts of supernatural twists and turns under it’s deceptively simple eroge premise, making for one of early KyoAni’s best. But for all the crazy things that happen over the course of the story, the most tragic part to me was the most real: the setting, in particular the dead, dying town, set and based of the very real town of Kasumi. I also briefly talk about the Air VN and 2005 Dezaki movie and it’s approach to the town, as well as delving into the mind of David Byrne for 30 seconds at the end.
