WOMAN and TIME: Maya Plisetskaya

*For donate* Maya Plisetskaya (Майя Михайловна Плисецкая, 1925-2015) was a Soviet and Russian ballet dancer, actress, choreographer, ballet director, author of two books of memoirs, fashion model. For many years she was a leading ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater and considered its stage to be the best in the world. Maya Mikhailovna’s father, Mikhail Plisetsky, was executed in 1938 during the time of Stalin’s terror. Her mother, Rachel Messerer, with Maya`s newborn brother was sent to the concentration, where she spent several years, away from Maya and her younger brother. The beginning of the ballet career of Maya Plisetskaya was during the Second World War. Maya Plisetskaya`s repertoire included classical ballet parties and modern ballet. Her professional life was unusually long. She danced almost until the end of the last century.
