Georgia: Tbilisi police investigating death of journalist after protest by LGBT opponents

The press team from the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Lashkarava “was subjected to physical and verbal violence while performing professional activities in the office of the Sirtskhvilia organisation.“ According to local media reports referencing Giorgi Ramishvili, a director at the New Hospitals clinic, the journalist was treated at the medical centre from Monday to Thursday and then he was released from hospital in a satisfactory state. The Ministry of Internal Affairs added that at the moment the body of the journalist has been transferred to the National Bureau of Forensic Expertise.
