The Byrds “Wasn’t Born to Follow“

“Wasn’t Born to Follow, “written by the songwriting team, Carole King & Gerry Goffin, was recorded by the Byrds on November 30, 1967 as part of their Columbia album, The Notorious Byrd Brothers. The lead vocal was sung by Roger McGuinn. Instrumental accompaniment was provided by Red Rhodes on pedal steel guitar, Clarence White on guitar, & Jim Gordon, on drums. The Notorious Byrd Brothers was released on January 15, 1968 & peaked at number 47 on the Billboard Top LPs chart. The song was featured in the 1969 film Easy Rider & was released as a single as the B-side of the “Ballad of Easy Rider“ on September 26, 1969 on Columbia Records. It was also included on the Easy Rider soundtrack album.
