5th May 1966: Six days after clinching the English League title Liverpool travelled to Hampden Park, Glasgow, to face the German side Borussia Dortmund in the Final of the European Cup Winners Cup. To get the Final Liverpool had dumped out big hitting sides like Juventus and Celtic, while Dortmund had seen off Athletic Madrid and holders, Ron Greenwood’s West Ham United.
