An example of the red spade experiment conducted by Bruner and Postman. A group of people are shown a series of playing cards and asked to memorize them. One of the cards shown is a red six of spades. Some people will incorrectly identify this card as a six of hearts. The experiment was used to support Bruner’s theories on categorization and context
