ANAIT - Dancing with Light Waves

A compendium of films and video shorts and fragments on the life and art of Anait Arutunoff Stephens, using footage from 1970 to 1994. Assembled and edited with additional cinematography by Al Razutis in 1994. This film includes Anait’s early works in metal and resin sculptures, mylar environments. The focus and of this film is on her holographic art spanning the years 1972 to 1994. It was assembled in collaboration with Anait by Al Razutis with additional footage by Razutis shot to include pulsed laser and later works by Anait. Extensive narration of subject matter provided by Anait. This is a rare and unique look at the work of an important pioneering holographic artist who lived in California on the coast and created holographic art out of her seaside home in Montecito. She engaged in what she called ’hands on holography’ where she created the holograms herself, not farmed them out to labs and technicians. More information on Anait Arutunoff Stephens and holography
